Northcote

The staff made the seasonal lunch especially enjoyable. They were attentive and professional throughout, and knew the dishes inside out when introducing them. This was our second visit to The Northcote Restaurant, and it was outstanding again. A really special place, faultless from beginning to end. Keep up the great work.

Breakfast was superb, from the eggs, sausage and black pudding to muesli and avocado toast, and the fresh fruit salad was beautiful. Dinner was a pleasure too. The alacarte menu leans on classic technique, like the fine butter sauce with the halibut, which was a refreshing change from the more complex, experimental food at other fine-dining places. Our room was comfortable and had a lovely little patio. The planned refurbishments should give the hotel a more updated look. The welcome was warm and the service friendly but still professional. It was a perfect last night of our two-week holiday in the area.

We had a lovely afternoon, including a drink out on the terrace. It was a belated birthday treat for my husband, and finding a card on the table was such a thoughtful touch. Everything was perfect, and the food was exceptional. We used the rest of the voucher for whisky glasses, local gin and a bear. A very special visit, and we’ll definitely be back.

The hotel’s walking guides were detailed and helped us explore the beautiful local scenery, which made the trip even more memorable. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with lots of small touches that made it welcoming. The food at Northcote was the best we’ve ever had, with every course a treat. Service was fantastic throughout and made the stay feel special. Everything was wonderful from start to finish. We can’t wait to return.
