Ardern Hotel

I had to find another hotel after arriving to find this one locked, despite its advertised 24-hour front desk. I tried calling, but the phone lines were dead, and after going back three times there was still nobody around. The service user I’d booked for has mental health problems and learning difficulties, and was getting distressed, so I had to take them elsewhere and check them in.

The rooms were shocking, and the hotel was very bad and unprofessional. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Disgusting place, avoid it like the plague. I’ve never stayed in a hotel this shocking. The building ought to be condemned. I’d give it zero if that were an option.

The breakfast was delicious, and the owner and staff were warm and welcoming. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, but it suited our needs, looked nicely furnished, and was very clean. It’s great value, too. The little place is just a stone’s throw from the tower and winter gardens. I’d happily stay again.
