The location worked well for us, and breakfast was OK, but otherwise I'd avoid it. It's run-down, dirty and uncomfortable, with things falling apart. Our sheets and towels were dirty, nobody cleaned the room for a few days, and the woman at the front was rude, snappy and very unprofessional. The power cut out while I was taking a shower, too. We wouldn't come back. We added an extra day for the festival and it was an absolute robbery, overpriced, but the driver needed to rest.

AVOID!!! We booked a double and a single room for the night for my son, but his room was nowhere near ours even though we'd said it was for our child. My partner had to swap rooms with him. The bunk bed in his room was unstable and shook with every movement, and both beds were very uncomfortable. The hotel smelled revolting and was absolutely filthy, with stains all over the carpets and spit on the wall beside the bed. I won't even get into the bathroom. The TVs didn't work, and there wasn't even hand wash. We didn't stay for the included breakfast given the hygiene we experienced. I've never been so shocked and disappointed. A friend of the owner was looking after the place, so there was little help.

For somewhere cheap to rest your head, it does the job, and I had a great night's sleep. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I could've taken them home, and I really liked the decor, especially the sparkly walls. The staff were lovely, the location is handy, about a five-minute walk from the beach, and breakfast was mostly delicious with a good portion size. The black pudding and hash browns were hard, though. At under £40 a night, you're not getting a 5* hotel, but it needs investment and attention to bring it up to scratch. My room had a lot of problems. It smelled like someone had been sick in the hallway. The bathroom door wouldn't open properly because it hit the toilet, and it was stiff to close because it was hanging off its hinges. The shower room barely looked clean, with cobwebs and missing tiles. The window was jammed open, letting the warmth out. To boil the kettle I had to carry it across the room and balance it next to the lamp because there was no nearby socket. When I opened the sink cupboard, the doors fell off and nearly hit my 10-month-old baby's foot. The floor and doors felt sticky, and the door lock was barely attached. The shower took about 10 minutes to get hot, apparently because of the age of the building. There are no rooms downstairs, so with a baby I had to leave him downstairs while I carried everything upstairs, then come back for him. A lot of these issues could be fixed. All in all, it was not too bad, just did the job.

Geoff and the staff were lovely, helped a lot and made us feel welcome. We got free parking round the back, and they offered to help with the bags. Plenty of tea, coffee, sugar and toilet roll were provided. Because of covid, breakfast sandwiches were brought to our room, and they were very nice, though staff kept pushing to come in for a chat each morning. I didn't appreciate someone coming in when I wasn't dressed. We told Geoff about the faults, but he said the owners wouldn't do anything. It isn't his fault, and this is our honest account. The hotel itself is very outdated. There were three of us in a room meant for five, and it was still a squeeze. There was nowhere to hang clothes and only three drawers. We stayed three nights, but the room was never cleaned. The bathroom was disgusting, with a broken tap, stained toilet, sink and shower, and a broken shower rail. We got only two towels and had to ask for more. We were told to wash cups in the bathroom, but weren't given clean ones. The mattress was rock hard, and one mattress didn't even fit the bottom bunk. Two lamps had no bulbs, and there was just one socket, so an extension lead was used for the TV and kettle. The TV was tiny and only visible from one bed. The carpets and windows were filthy. Heating was on 24/7 even though it was 26 degrees, and the windows wouldn't open.

For the price, it was probably okay, and breakfast was decent. The rooms felt a bit old and the toilets were okay, but not spotless. Toiletries and toilet paper were missing. With a little more effort, it could be a lot better.
