Fernlea Hotel

The new owners were very welcoming and let us check in before 2pm. Since we were first to arrive on Friday 8th Oct, we got to choose our room and were offered a welcome drink. It was very clean and the shower worked without any trouble. The owners hadn't been there long but were doing their best to bring the place back to how it was. We really enjoyed our stay. We knew there was no bar or breakfast, but they let us bring drinks and food back. It's close to the train station and other places to visit in Blackpool. Thanks, Kris.

The room cost £45 a night and was wildly overpriced. The building smelled musty throughout, like a second-hand clothes shop on a wet day. A Polish gentleman showed me up the stairs, where an assortment of carpet patches and stains could keep you occupied looking for shapes and faces. The room was tiny, just as he'd warned, and furnished with what seemed like dumpster finds. The en-suite looked like it belonged in the 1970s. A polite note said the shower was far from the boiler, so hot water took a while. It came through as a trickle, and any adjustment to the faucet made it ice cold. The bedroom door didn't fit its frame and had a gap large enough to slide a plate of food underneath. The weather turned cold, and there was no heating on the first night. There was no reception or bar, just a phone number stuck to the window for problems. I've seen cleaner homeless hostels. Would I stay again? Lol, no. The owner should turn off all the lights and rent the whole place as a Halloween attraction. It's a dump.

We had a lovely four-night stay, from 21st September 2023, and I'll definitely be back. The couple who run the hotel are lovely. The room was clean and very nice, and the bed was comfortable. It's close to the train station and pubs and clubs, with the seafront not far away, so the location is great. The price was very reasonable too. Many thanks to the lovely couple, highly recommended.

The hosts were great and even asked us to join them when they went out. Our room was clean and smelled lovely, and the promenade was so close. We’d happily stay again. Cheers, lads!
