Highbury Hotel

The beds were broken, the ceiling was coming apart, and the windows wouldn't open for ventilation. I didn't dare sleep there. There was mould on the walls, peeling wallpaper, and the bathroom looked in a state. When we walked in, the smell was overpowering, and the beds seemed riddled with bedbugs.

The worst part was the bedbugs in the room. My daughter was bitten all over during the night, so we left early, but the bugs had got into our suitcase and we ended up with them at home. The room was dirty, the bed broken, and the bedding stained. The shower had no warm water, and what we got didn't look like the pictures on booking.com. On entering, the hotel smelled bad and looked poor. We paid for breakfast, but it never existed. Absolutely not recommended.

The place was pretty dirty, and there were no televisions because, apparently, a disgruntled ex-manager ripped them all out. I sat on the bed for two hours and got destroyed by bedbugs. I've never seen bites that bad. I paid for five days but left immediately, and they refused to refund me. Terrible way to treat clients.

The carpets smelled of beer and old socks, and seemed not to have been changed in years. The bedding was the same, and the shower was covered in mould. But the bedbugs were the worst part. Once we'd turned out the light and fallen asleep, there were thousands of them. When I switched the light on at night, they were crawling on my daughter's face and arms. We had to take the kids and leave in the middle of the night. Not recommended.
