The location was handy, with everything a short walk away, and the beds were comfortable. Our room felt a little compact, though there were four adults sharing it, so that was expected. The free toast was a nice touch. The staff at The Marinne Hotel were amazing, friendly and helpful with directions, and glad to help whenever we needed anything extra. The bathroom and toilet areas could have been cleaner. They weren’t dirty by any means, but bottles of bleach or anti-bacterial spray and some air freshener might help. Great value for money.

The owners were lovely and made sure we were happy with our room. We even got to meet their dogs, which was a bonus! The bed was so comfy I didn’t want to get out, and the room was lovely. It’s very close to town and easy to find. I’d definitely stay again, and we’ll be back.

At £26 a night, I knew it was cheap, but I still expected basic cleanliness. There was none. The shower was covered in mould, and my partner had to wipe down the toilet when we got into the room. There was nowhere to put toothbrushes or hang towels, and even the toilet roll was stuck on the side of the sink. Dust was everywhere, including on the bed. The carpet was disgraceful, and the place had a strange smell. The bed was awful. The pillows were orange, had no protectors, and two of the four looked like they were falling apart. The orange mattress had no protector either. I could have put up with lumps if it had been clean, but it was an abomination. We lay on towels on top of the bed, but at 2am my partner said we were going home. My cough had been getting worse and I felt like I was choking on the air, and he was convinced he’d been bitten. He didn’t have to ask twice. Within 20 minutes of leaving, my cough was much less aggressive, and two and a half hours later we were sleeping comfortably in our own bed. It’s a steaming cesspit, and I’d give it zero stars if I could. My advice to anyone considering it: don’t.

Breakfast was included and really nice. It was brought to the table, with toast, tea, and coffee available for self-service. The room and bathroom were both clean and tidy. We got a very warm welcome, and the bed was comfortable. There was a lot of noise from other guests in the early hours, but we hope that was a one-off since we’d like to stay again.

The room was freezing and smelled bad, the shower kept swinging from scalding to cold, and the replies I got when I complained were rude and abrupt. My autistic son was very upset and wanted to go home. After I texted Zara about the cold, she said the heating must have clicked off and she'd turn it on. An hour later, with the tiny radiator on and us still cold, she texted that she had to switch it off because someone had left a shower running, and would put it back on later. When Zara came to check the radiator, she said some people are just cold. We were given extra quilts and left to manage. She offered a discount if we came back, but no thanks. I also mentioned the faulty shower and she tried to blame united utilities 😂 Getting into room 9 was a struggle with the door. My son and I arrived at 12:30pm, and waited 20 minutes for the front door to be answered because manager Zara was in the shower. We went to find a car park and do our planned activities, then returned around 4:30 to check in. Zara seemed mainly interested in how we were paying. We tried showers to warm up, then spent two hours shivering in the cold room before I started emailing complaints. Extra quilts didn't make it comfortable. A shocking experience for £50.
