Holly at reception was lovely when we arrived and couldn’t do enough for us, but the rest of our visit was a letdown. We’d booked a relaxing night away at Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa, with a two-course meal, breakfast and spa access. Instead of eating in the restaurant, we were told we’d been moved to the pub. A restaurant meal was one of the main reasons we booked, so this was frustrating. The pub was loud, more like a social club, with drunk tradesmen and children screaming. The menu was very limited too, with hardly any options if you don’t like pies. The spa didn’t offer the peaceful break we’d hoped for either. It felt like a busy public pool, with children everywhere. We also had to listen to spa members complain openly that hotel guests were “ruining” their experience, which left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. This wasn’t the relaxing stay we paid for and expected. We left within 3 hours. If you want good food and a tranquil spa, I’d avoid this place.

The spa itself was clean, the staff there did their jobs well, and the pool and saunas were great. There’s a good range of facilities, from aromatherapy to the steam room, plus a nice outdoor Jacuzzi. One lady even praised their treatments. We only used the spa and pool, though, and the bar experiences put me off coming back. The first time, we waited 20 minutes for coffee. Another time, we had £40 left on a £100 voucher and had been told we could use the balance at the bar or restaurant. At the restaurant bar, a staff member said they didn’t allow that and didn’t seem to want us there. We were confused, though not surprised. After the coffee wait, I wasn’t keen on the menu anyway. What’s the point of selling £100 Spa Day vouchers and telling customers they can spend the credit in the restaurant? I’d skip the vouchers and just pay cash for the £30 per person spa service.

The spa was fab, and the pool and hydrotherapy pool were very clean. My friend brought me for an overnight birthday treat next week. Reception staff were lovely, the evening meal and breakfast were delicious, and Mia at breakfast was really attentive to my vegetarian needs. The bed was super comfy too. Thanks, Shirley. There’s a lovely artisan village behind the hotel, where I bought some nice gifts.

The spa is filthy and only works half the time. It’s packed with kids, and staff make you leave before the time you paid for is up. If you complain, you’re treated like dirt. After I raised concerns, the hotel managers were no help. The staff are rude and abusive, especially the manager Nicola, whose behaviour toward multiple customers on multiple occasions is disgusting. I can’t understand why she’s paid a salary for treating people that way. There’s a sign at reception saying something like “show us respect,” which says a lot about their attitude toward customers. The management needs replacing and the place needs a new culture, because there are clear problems with attitude, motivation and basic respect. It’s not worth the price. The front of the building looks nice, but inside it’s horrible. I’ll never return. Do not visit.

I had a spa day with afternoon tea, and the staff were great. They accommodated my wheat allergy without any problem, and I had no issues in any of the spa areas. The facial and head massage were AMAZING. Only small niggle was the changing room hairdryer, there was just one that worked properly, so be ready to wait. It wasn’t a big issue.
