The Manor Elstree

The wedding we attended was delightful and well organised, but as hotel guests we wouldn't choose to return. Our standard annex room cost £110 a night and felt overpriced for a four-star hotel. It needed updating and was missing basics I'd expect, including complimentary bottled water and sanitary bags. The hairdryer didn't work, and the baby's cot had a folded duvet instead of a proper mattress, which wasn't appropriate or comfortable. Restaurant and bar service was disappointing, apparently because of understaffing. Our group waited over an hour for dinner, and one person's meal was forgotten, adding another 15 minutes. A dessert meant to be hot arrived cold, and another was wrongly labelled gluten-free on the menu, a serious oversight. With only two staff covering the bar and restaurant, the atmosphere felt chaotic. We stayed three nights for the wedding, and while that event itself was lovely, the hotel didn't meet expectations for its price or rating.

Our wedding reception and night at The Manor Elstree were wonderful from start to finish. The Knightsbridge Suite was dreamy and luxurious, a perfect end to the day, and waking there the next morning made it feel even more magical. The venue is beautiful, with striking architecture and an elegant, welcoming atmosphere. The whole property was impeccably maintained and perfectly prepared for our wedding. The team were attentive, calm and professional, and everything ran smoothly. Carolyn, the General Manager, deserves special thanks for her care, organisation and attention to detail, which made the experience feel effortless and stress-free. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and so many guests complimented its quality, portions and service. Joanne at reception was a real highlight, so kind, welcoming and friendly. The rooms were warm, comfortable, clean and tidy, and breakfast was honestly among the best I’ve had at a hotel. Elstree Manor has a really distinctive interior, mixing Laura Ashley details with features inspired by parts of ships from the Spanish Armada. It made for a relaxing place to enjoy a quiet drink. I had a wonderful stay and would happily come back.

We visited on 27th January 2026, and it was our first time here, though I doubt it’ll be our last. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable, Dave slept really well. The grounds are peaceful, the food was filling and lovely, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Service was very good. Thanks to the chef, and we’d gladly recommend the hotel.
