Bramley House

Stay away. I was lucky enough to see the room while it was being cleaned. It was disgusting, with urine stains on the mattresses and a very distinct musty smell. I cancelled my booking, but they still charged me for the night.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here. I shared a double room with someone else, and the night was like sleeping on the floor. The beds were uncomfortable. The rooms were warm, though maybe that was because the mould coming from the walls was heating them up. One room had a shower that broke and sent the smell of toilet water into the room and then the corridor. I was worried about my health and wellbeing, and if I could give the place half a star, I would.

We booked a family room with one double and one single bed, but were given two separate double rooms. We arrived later in the day, so there weren’t any other options. The separate bathroom was old, the sanitaryware was caked in limescale, the toilet seat was broken, and the taps dripped. I’m sure it was lovely 20 years ago. The wooden floors and nonexistent soundproofing didn’t help. The rooms were sparse and unwelcoming. One genuinely looked and felt like an office with a bed thrown in. It might suit a young couple on a budget or someone travelling alone, but based on our experience, it wasn’t family-friendly. I couldn’t wait to leave, and I was glad we hadn’t booked breakfast.

There were plenty of rooms available, and they were tidy, but the bedding didn’t match and the decor was outdated. No fridge in the rooms, and the shower was OK. The hallway and doorways were laid out badly, which made getting through with bags difficult. The heating was self-controlled and hot. I found it overpriced, and although the staff were friendly, they seemed passive and the whole thing felt awkward.
