We booked on the day while we were nearby celebrating my husband’s 30th, and the staff noticed my request for a candle in the dessert. They even gave us the dessert on the house, such a lovely gesture. The food was gorgeous, service was friendly, and there was plenty of room at the table. It was handy that dogs are welcome, and the prices felt fair for the quality. We’d recommend it and would probably come back if we’re in the area again.

The food was just as good as the reviews suggested, simply and wonderfully cooked. We stayed in the Hayloft room, which was very comfortable. When we found that a window blind had come loose, it was fixed quickly and with a very effusive apology. The staff were friendly and almost over-polite, though that’s no complaint. The pub has loads of character on a quiet road. Highly recommended.

We thought this was easily one of the best places to eat locally. Dinner was so good that we both ordered dessert, which we rarely do, and neither of us regretted it. We could have stopped after two courses, but the third was well worth having. My girlfriend chose the terrine and duck, while I had chicken liver paté and venison. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the meat was excellent quality. The service was friendly, polite and efficient. There were more wines by the glass than I’ve seen in most places, which is a big plus if you want to try one before committing to a bottle. Thanks to the chefs and servers. We’ll definitely be back soon.

Several dishes are marked GF, and they were able to make a gluten free pizza for my sister in law, who was delighted. I’ve always loved the pizzas here. The homemade bread and venison shoulder amuse bouche were delicious too. We’ve been to this lovely pub a few times because the food and service are consistently excellent. The atmosphere is great, and all the staff are wonderfully welcoming. I highly recommend it.

The food and location were good, though the dining room was a little noisy. At breakfast we sat down at 8:30 and ordered straight away, since we were the only ones there. It took nearly 50 minutes, and the food arrived on cold plates. A shooting party of more than 30 people had come in after us, all ordering cooked breakfasts with complicated variations. I understand this is a community pub that wants to keep the locals on side, and the group took priority. Once they’d all been served, we finally got some attention. We felt quite snubbed, especially since nobody explained what was going on. Very disappointing. We’ve stayed in this room before, and I remember mentioning that the sink wasn’t working. It still isn’t. Soap scum and toothpaste residue sit in the bowl; I think it needs flushing.
