The Chocolate Box Hotel

There’s no breakfast on offer here, despite what I’d seen in reviews. My room also didn’t have an attached bathroom. It was across the corridor and needed a key each time I wanted to use it. At 10am, the cleaner came into my room without knocking. I then got a message saying checkout was at 10:30, but the room information said 11. There are much better places to stay in Bournemouth.

The check-in form asked for my card details, which I wasn’t comfortable sharing, but there didn’t seem to be another way to check in. Parking is free, though the space is tight. I had to tuck my car beside the fence so I wouldn’t block the entrance. The room itself was luxurious and very clean, with an en-suite. The double bed could easily fit two people and a child. There’s also a pantry in the restaurant with a microwave and fridge. The setting is lovely, high on a hill with the beach within walking distance.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with cereal, fruit, pastries and a full English. I’m gluten-free, and they handled that without any problem. The room was a good size, with air conditioning and complimentary toiletries in the en-suite. We had a lovely anniversary break. The banner and petals were a sweet touch, and the complimentary chocolates were lovely too. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone heading to Bournemouth.
