On the May Bank Holiday during the heatwave, we sat by the river with our own iced coffees and looked over the pub menu, planning to order food. A teenage waitress abruptly told us to leave and finish our drinks somewhere else before coming back, even though we already had the menu and intended to order. It felt rude and unwelcoming, with poor hospitality for a tourist city. We left without ordering. I hope they train their staff better. Not recommended.

The pub and room are fairly basic, but they had what we needed and were very good value. The staff were friendly, and the free off-street parking is a real bonus in the Cotswolds. We stayed three nights in an absolutely perfect spot in an incredible town. The bed was uncomfortable, with the springs quite noticeable, but after I asked, staff offered an extra duvet to sleep on and that helped.

It's a lovely pub with a riverside terrace, a good burger and prompt, friendly service. Being a little off the tourist track probably makes it easier to get a table.

The room was clean and nice, though we could hear a lot of noise from next door. The man who checked us in was friendly and welcoming, but gave us a checkout time that differed from the email. We still left by the earlier time he asked for. Breakfast was really nice, and the friendly woman checked with the kitchen to make sure they had what was needed for one of us who is vegetarian. The main disappointment came when we were leaving. We were parked in the provided car park, and after we packed the car, one of us ran back to the restroom while I waited on the wooden area. Another car parked behind us and blocked us in, even though there was a free space beside us. I think the driver might have been a staff member, though I could be wrong. He looked at me and went inside without helping. A woman came out several times to put things in the bin, saw that we were trapped and heard us discussing it, but didn't offer to speak to anyone inside.

At the Duke of Wellington, the bar staff were kind and service was quick, but most of our food was below standard. The Katsu Curry special was so salty I couldn't finish it, and the burger from the kids menu was very dry. The server said he'd pass the feedback to the chef. For the price, I expected food good enough to finish. The chicken and bacon club sandwich we ordered was nice.
