We had a lovely anniversary visit. The owners were so kind, and even left us a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate, a really thoughtful touch. The mini suite is gorgeous and just right for couples. It’s only a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Bourton, and we felt safe walking back in the evening. Such a perfect weekend getaway.

For our special wedding anniversary, we arrived to find bottles of prosecco and a heart slate congratulating us in the room. Such a lovely gesture. The room was clean and perfectly adequate, and the place is close to all the village amenities. The couple running it are so friendly and do everything they can to make guests feel welcome and looked after. Their service is first class. Breakfast was exceptional, and the salmon and scrambled eggs were divine.

We left feeling uncomfortable and stressed instead of welcome, and I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it. Our room wasn’t clean, with old clothes left behind by a previous guest, and several plug sockets didn’t work. The hotel advertised guaranteed parking, but there wasn’t a proper space for us. We were sent to an unsuitable spot, and our car was damaged there. The way the issue was dealt with afterwards felt unfair and unprofessional. A very disappointing stay.

For £155 a night I expected a better stay. The shower was dodgy, there weren’t enough sockets, and my wife had no dresser to get changed at. Breakfast was eggs on toast or an omelette, with a choice of one hot drink or orange juice. Then they had the cheek to charge £12 for a full English. In a farming county in England, you should be serving the best English breakfast. I’m never coming to the Cotswolds again.

Ross and Charlotte were delightful hosts, doing everything they could to make our two-night family celebration comfortable and enjoyable. The continental breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection of cooked breakfasts also available at a very reasonable price. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the fluffy white towels get a big tick from me. It’s just outside the village, which was a welcome break from the busy centre in summer. The building is quite modern, and there’s a car park between the main hotel and the rooms at the back, so it may not suit anyone after a pretty, old-world Cotswold hotel. But for location, comfort, cleanliness and friendly service, it’s well worth considering. Highly recommend.
