We had a couple of family gatherings and loved being able to picnic in the gardens. The house felt like home, with everything we needed and a fantastic welcome package waiting for us. Susan was very helpful, and meeting Janet was a pleasure. We’re originally from the area but now live in Australia, and I hope we’ll be back one day.

Janet was so welcoming and knows the area really well. There’s even a book in the cottage about the owners’ journey renovating the Mill. It was unbelievably clean and felt very homely. The location is ideal, in a lovely, quiet area. If it were a hotel, I’d give it five stars plus. I almost want to keep the place to myself, but I’d definitely recommend it.

The accommodation was spotless, with everything thought through, and it’s kept to a very high standard. The setting is peaceful, surrounded by woodland, with private, scenic walks alongside the brook that runs through the estate. I’d definitely stay again.

Walk up out of the valley and there’s a lovely view of the viaduct. You can walk across it too, with beautiful scenery below that would make a great photo. The mill and cottages sit in a Yorkshire valley, and the people who run the place are really kind. It’s well worth a visit.

We stayed in number 9, which was cosy and comfortable, with good linen, comfy sofas and a downstairs loo. There was plenty of room for coats, plus a torch, umbrellas and a smart TV. The kitchen had everything for cooking, including oil, salt and pepper. Breakfast things were there too, from milk and cereal to toast, butter, jam, juice, tea and coffee. The coffee was instant, though there was a plunger if you prefer ground coffee. Mr and Mrs Emmanuel have clearly thought of everything to make the cottages feel like home. It was a warm retreat from Storm Deirdre and the freezing rain. We couldn’t fault the place and will definitely come back when visiting family nearby, hopefully for longer than a weekend. There’s still so much to explore.
