After ten years and plenty of travel, I still can't give this hotel a quarter star. I was talking with family about the most disgusting place we'd stayed, then read the reviews out of curiosity. Glad, if a bit hilariously, to see nothing has changed in ten years except there seem to be more cockroaches and perhaps bloodstains on the sheets. This place feels like a cockroach maternity ward pretending to be a hotel, and I doubt you'll ever get rid of them while it's trading. The windows were jammed so they let in sub-arctic wind, but couldn't be opened enough to escape. The wafer-thin, bloodstained “blanket” did nothing to help. We were freezing, then had a freezing cold shower the next morning. Maybe that killed whatever undiscovered biological stuff had taken up residence overnight. We even felt like taking up smoking to add to the cigarette butts scattered around the room and radiator. And after reading other reviews, I'm relieved the moaning, groaning and screaming from other rooms apparently wasn't a murder in progress. I can't think of a fitting description for the hotel. Could you add “horror”?

Being close to lilycroft road, with all its great takeaways and restaurants, was a bonus, and manninghim park is right across from the hotel. The team were so kind and the service was excellent. I highly recommend staying here. I booked at the last minute and they went out of their way to make us comfortable. Since we were fasting for Ramadan, they kindly provided a delicious iftar meal. When we needed to extend our stay at short notice, they arranged another night without any hassle. They even brought us cushions so we could relax more. The care and attention really exceeded what I expected.

The ice cream was lovely, but the food was basically rice and chips every night, with warm milk at breakfast. That's a terrible choice for family accommodation. The area is nice, with lister park and a 24 hour polish shop nearby. At first my mum, sister and I were put in a room without windows. It got really sweaty, and they expected my 18 year old sister and me to share one single bed. We were moved to a room with a window and a private bathroom, but I couldn't sleep that night. Hundreds of cockroaches came out in the bathroom after dark, and we could hear them scuttling around. Avoid if you can.
