Trigg Hall

The room was basic, clean, and comfortable, and the kitchen was clean too. But the cupboards and fridge were packed with food, leaving hardly any space for my things, and it looked like someone was living there. On the second day, we went to make tea and found a fat little mouse under the fridge. We called to complain right away and were offered another floor, but we left and asked for a full refund, which still hadn't arrived. There was a dead rat in the car park, which only fits four cars, and there was no on-street parking. The Wi-Fi and TV didn't work. There was no safe, toiletries, or hairdryer, and only one towel. Being alone without Wi-Fi or a TV was pretty boring. I wouldn't stay again because the facilities didn't match what was described when booking. One star is too much. Avoid!

The room was okay and the bed comfortable, and the price was reasonable. There are some great local takeaways, but parking was a problem: only room for six or seven cars, with many live-in residents and a popular mosque across the road spilling over into street parking. We booked 16 rooms, but only a few TVs worked. We were spread across four corridors with kitchens, and not one kitchen had a microwave. The facilities looked nothing like the pictures, and I only used them once to make a drink. Check-in was at 4pm, but we didn't get into our rooms until 5.30. The only time we saw cleaners in four nights was while we waited for rooms, and they looked exhausted. I wouldn't stay again, and neither would my colleagues.

I found bed bugs crawling over the headboard in my first room. They wouldn't refund me, so they moved me to another floor. The new corridor had someone living there, someone smoking weed every night, and a sex worker rented the room opposite mine for one night. The room descriptions aren't reliable. You get exactly what you pay for, so stay somewhere else if you can afford it.

The way this was arranged was shady. Someone hosting our group made the travel arrangements, and breakfast was supposed to be included, but with rooms on different floors it wasn't clear where we should get it. While I was meeting someone by the front entrance, another guest arrived and asked where reception was. I told him we were just meeting the host outside. His room had been cancelled without him knowing.
