The Pheasant at Neenton

A delightful meal, with the kind of flavour and freshness you’d hope for in a town restaurant, let alone a village one. The service was friendly, attentive and informative. I’ll be recommending this place to everyone.

There’s some food here that’s a real step above pub fare, but consistency needs work. Service felt brusque, and the meal was mixed. The risotto was like baby food, with no bite to the rice at all. They replaced it without any fuss, but the second dish came out with jus and was different from what we’d ordered. Was nobody at the pass paying attention? The chicken schnitzel was great, though it was a crumbed breast rather than flattened as a schnitzel should be. I’d also like to see more care put into the kids’ dishes. Kids deserve that too.

The pub had a pleasantly lively feel, though the setting was quiet, and the staff were so friendly. Our pork and beef roast platter was delicious, with pink beef and really tasty pork. We also enjoyed the starters and dessert, and thought it was great value with a good wine selection. Sunday lunch was lovely. We’ll be back soon, though booking ahead makes sense since it gets busy. Thanks for the great work!

We visited in January 2025, though I'm only getting round to posting this now 😊. The pub was cosy and the food was very good value. I especially liked the 28-day aged Bridgnorth beef, cooked just right, along with the Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese. We started with French onion soup and Welsh rabbit. Really good food.
