Castle Of Comfort Hotel

We were here for two nights for a wedding ten minutes away. The hotel looked beautiful and was very clean when we arrived, and our room was lovely. Breakfast was one of the best we’ve had away, with great service, and we’d recommend the place and stay again. Our room, number 5, faced the main road, so passing cars were really loud. Once we were asleep it wasn’t an issue, but it’s worth mentioning. The room was also next to the staff cleaning area, and on Sunday morning there was constant noise, which we think may have been the washing machines.

Carol runs and cooks at the hotel, and she’s excellent at making it welcoming, with all the finishing touches you’d hope for. She’s helpful and easy to deal with, and the staff are lovely. The food was tasty and nicely presented, the wine was good, and the prices very reasonable. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, with an interesting feel, a good bed, and a great shower. The Castle of Comfort is a Grade II listed building, but as a hotel and restaurant, it deserves a Grade 1*!

We were traveling from Yorkshire for a nearby wedding and let them know we’d arrive late. Carol was there to greet us and was so friendly. The room was lovely, and the team, especially Emily, made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough for us. They even helped us get a local taxi. Breakfast was amazing, and we ate there on Friday night too, which was delicious. Thank you to the team.

We only stopped for a coffee break while traveling, but the staff were so welcoming and friendly, and brought us and our dog into the lounge. The cream teas were lovely, and we left very satisfied. The place looks well cared for and maintained, and seems like a great place to stay. There are loads of lovely walks and views nearby.
