Lower Marsh Farm B&B

Jill greeted us late at night and made us feel genuinely cared for. She was enthusiastic and passionate about looking after guests, and we were welcomed into a marvellous dining room. The B&B and eating area are part of their farmhouse, set at the end of a long drive amid beautiful green countryside. The rooms are lovely, colour-coordinated beautifully, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in at a hotel. Being well back from the main road made it amazingly quiet. In the morning, breakfast was generous, and the dining room itself was a real highlight. We told Jill and Richard that the Booking pictures don't do the place justice. A fantastic overnight stop and a warm, enjoyable B&B experience. I rarely write reviews, but had to for this place.

We spent three nights at Lower Marsh farm B&B, and the owners were friendly and helpful throughout. Our family room was comfortable and big enough for the four of us, including two teenagers. It had all we needed, plus a few extras such as a shoe cleaning kit, which could come in handy for a wedding or smart event. The B&B is close enough to Taunton to be convenient, yet far enough away to feel peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing in the garden and taking in the sights and sounds of the countryside. From there, we reached Minehead in about 40 minutes, Lyme Regis in just under an hour, Cheddar Gorge in a little over an hour, and the Quantocks and Exmoor were easy to get to as well. Breakfast was excellent, using fresh local produce for the full English, with a good choice of cereal, yoghurt and fruit. I appreciated having decaf tea too, as it's not always easy to find. The two young kittens on the farm kept us entertained. We'd happily stay again when we're next in Somerset.

There was room to park and turn our 14 foot boat, which was handy. We stayed overnight to split the drive between Herts and Plymouth, and the place was beautifully clean. Comfortable bed, a good breakfast choice, and kind hosts. Hoping to come back this year. Beautiful.

We left booking until the last minute, so I thought we’d done pretty well. The food was good and the atmosphere was great, and the hosts were lovely, telling us loads about the area. The room was being used as a second dining room, which wasn’t ideal, but it was fine and they reduced the price a little because of it.
