The Star Inn

It was really warm in our room during the August heat wave, though we knew there was no air con when we booked. The room was clean and nice, with tea and coffee, a comfy bed, and a clean bathroom with a walk-in shower. There's a large carpark round the back with security cameras. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and there's a bar and steak house with friendly teams. The steaks were beautifully cooked and the extras were lovely. We enjoyed a drink in the outdoor seating area while waiting for our table, and there was plenty of seating inside too. A nice old school inn, and we hope to come back.

We took my Dad for his birthday lunch but didn't stay here. Five of us had a lovely Sunday dinner in a place that had been freshly redecorated and was clean. The food was lovely, though the roast potatoes weren't ready and the portions could have been a little bigger. The chap hosting was kind and professional, and I'd happily go again, perhaps on a weekday to try their extensive steak menu.

The staff were fantastic and went above and beyond. Breakfast was a 10 out of 10, even my fussy partner ate it all, and the chef went out of his way to accommodate her needs when we came for an evening meal. We stayed two nights in accommodation that had recently been renovated to a high standard. Definitely coming back.

The room felt spacious, was very clean, and had smart decor. Staff were friendly and helpful both before we arrived and at check-in. We had to find the breakfast room by chance, as it wasn't obvious and there was no one to ask. There wasn't a clear menu or a choice of juice and cereal, but the waitress talked us through the cooked options. Breakfast was beautifully cooked, and she offered us more toast and cereal afterwards. They were relaxed about checkout.
