Winston House

We stayed one night in February with friends who were booked for two nights, choosing this Guesthouse because it's close to everything. On arrival, we were told the heating in our room wasn't working and given a portable heater. It kept tripping the electricity, so the landlord took it away and said he'd bring a replacement shortly. He never came back. The room was freezing, and at four in the morning we were sitting in our coats. There was no hot water, so we had to boil the kettle to wash. The shower might have worked, but it was far too cold to try. When we left the next morning, we learned our friends had no heating in their room either. The Guesthouse shouldn't have been open before the heating was fixed. It spoiled our weekend, and we were offered just £8 back from the price. We've discussed it and won't recommend staying here.

A staff member greeted us on arrival and showed us to our accommodation, explaining how to use the door fobs. The room was very clean and tidy, with towels and shower gel waiting on the bed. It's close to the seafront and town. We'll use Winston house for our next holiday. Parking is by permit and has a charge. I recommend Winston house.

The room was small, but just right for us, and a short walk from the sea. It even had knives, forks, spoons, plates and bowls, which I've never had provided in a room before. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

You get what you pay for, but they should at least fix the hole in the bathroom roof and make sure the fan works. The rooms are very small and unsuitable for people with physical challenges. I'd give it two stars at most, and that's generous.
