There was no food menu because there was no chef at the time, though a new one is starting. There was just one barmaid, but the service was excellent. It’s a lovely location with a great atmosphere.

A gorgeous old pub with great staff. The menu’s limited, but what’s on it is good.

The staff were lovely, welcoming and attentive. They also helped with a specific food request for an autistic lad in our party, and I can’t fault them for that. The pub itself is really lovely, with potential, and perhaps we caught it on an off day. The food was disappointing despite looking beautiful on the plate. Three of us had the roast and felt the same afterward. The sirloin was very rare, though we hadn’t been asked how we wanted it, and tasted burnt outside. The veg was barely cooked: the cabbage was raw and the carrots hard. The roast potatoes were white and looked as if they’d only had a couple of minutes in the oven. The huge Yorkshire pudding was overdone and mostly charred tasting. I did enjoy the cauliflower cheese. Another person in our party had glazed ham that was too salty to eat. At £20 for a roast, I expect it to be properly roasted. The gravel car park might be hard to navigate in a wheelchair, although there were other street parking spaces in front of the pub.

We popped into the pub on Friday night while spending a week in the village. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, staff and locals alike, and it’s dog friendly too. The beers and ciders were excellent, and we had a lovely meal. The menu was on the small side, but the options were tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. It got quite busy, which was great to see in a village pub, and the Friday atmosphere was great. Loved it.

I had an amazing burger for lunch. The landlady was super accommodating with all my dietary requirements. Thank you.
