The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it. We were kept awake by what I think were guests above us, sometimes until 3.30am, and the bed was uncomfortable. On the last morning I noticed what looked like a blood stain on the duvet while gathering the bedding. The TV was confusing to use, with text in another language and subtitles that I couldn’t work out how to turn off. The room also wasn’t clean. It was dusty, the light switches were sticky, and the remotes were dirty. The shower walls had a red tinge and black mould. I messaged the number and got a call back quickly. I explained that, as a cleaner for many years, I know the red mark can be residue from people’s bodies, and that cleaners should be trained on areas like these. The woman said she’d never heard of it, apologised and promised to sort it out. They came while we were out with my daughter, but only some of the red marks were removed. They wiped the sides quickly to get rid of some dust, but there was no attention to detail. On arrival, our inside door code didn’t work. I called and, after a few minutes, the woman provided a different code. I’d only seen good reviews before booking, but after returning I found plenty of bad ones mentioning cleanliness too. Their replies say they’ll rectify things, but clearly the issues remain. I’ve just come back from a 3 night stay with my daughter, and we definitely won’t book again.

Getting in was easy with the self-service access, and everything felt fresh and clean, even the lovely carpets that looked brand new. I loved the room. The central location was a real win in Brighton, and it was quiet too. Perfect for a relaxing trip, and I can’t wait to stay again.

The mini kitchen came in handy for preparing food we brought back, and there were plenty of good places to eat and drink right on the doorstep. Brighton’s best bits are only a few minutes away on foot, with the sea just down the road. We had a clean, warm room and housekeeping had stocked it well. My partner and I spent a weekend here for our anniversary, getting away from the kids, and the hotel’s funky interiors were stunning. Highly recommend.

It was a box room in the basement, and complaining only made the staff rude to me. The poor, rude customer service spoiled my day and the journey. I’ll never forget the experience, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone stay here.
