The staff were pleasant and helpful, and my room was mostly clean. There was dust on the framed photo above the bed, though, and the lower shower walls needed a proper scrub. The rest of the hotel could do with a thorough clean and some paint too. I spent one night there in February. The car park entrance was a tight squeeze, and the payment options were 24 hours or 4 hours, with nothing around 14 hours for an overnight stay. Who would choose just 4 hours? The room stayed chilly. Its small heater made little difference even when I turned it up, and the windows were open when I arrived on a cold evening. There was a sensor and a sign saying reception monitored the temperature remotely when guests were out. I suspect they just switch it off. At night, other parts of the mattress felt noticeably cold when I reached across it. I paid over £40 to sleep in a cold bed, then another £10 for parking. When I next needed somewhere in Brighton, I chose a different hotel for about £10 more. It was cleaner, had better facilities, and the toilet paper didn’t fall apart at a touch. Even if you only need four hours, I’d spend a little extra and look elsewhere.

The family room worked well for two parents and two children, though I wouldn’t recommend it for four adults. The bathroom could use an update. Parking is limited, so it’s probably best to leave your car there for the whole visit in case you can’t get another space. A taxi into town costs around £13, and the seafront is a long walk away.

The staff are really nice, and the No 5 bus gets you into town since the hotel is a bit out of the way. I’ve stayed here several times, but the extras are piling up. Parking has gone from 7🦑 to 10🦑 for 24 hours over the past few years, about a 30% increase. You also can’t get into your room early without paying 15🦑, and they now charge 15🦑 to 45🦑 for a front park view. That’s taking the piss. There are lots of add-on costs. I’d like the option to book a room with a bath, or a bigger family room without kids. Adding children sends the price way, way up, and I’m not sure why. I used to like staying here, but I mostly go to Best west now because it costs about the same. We won’t be back. The rubber window seals could do with a clean. They also charge to call TL, and O2 charges me to ring TL too. They’re both screwing me. TL should offer a free phone number so O2 doesn’t rip off its customers as well as TL customers. They’re missing out on phone bookings.

I was wary after reading earlier reviews, but I found most of the negative comments didn’t match my stay. Check-in was at 9pm and I was pleasantly surprised to find a parking space. The reception team were kind, helpful, and clear when explaining things. My room was clean, fresh, and nicely presented. I also ate at the restaurant the previous evening. The food was excellent, well priced, and it was a comfortable place to dine.

The location worked well, about a 20-minute walk from the centre, with a nice park across the road. Parking was easy and the staff were friendly. The room was okay, the beds were comfortable, and it was cheap and cheerful. The shower room did have a strong smell like cheesy bleach.
