Hampton by Hilton Bristol Airport

I was too tired to drive after my very late flight back, so I needed somewhere to stay. I found a night on trip.com for 40 percent less and asked if they’d match it, but they said those nights were impossible to find. I booked with them anyway. It’s convenient if you want to avoid the hassle of arranging a place and taxis to and from the airport, such as to a Holiday Inn or Premier Lodge, but don’t book direct.

The receptionist made a real difference, helping us from the moment we arrived and making sure everything was right. She was friendly and professional, and her warm welcome helped make the stay stress-free. Hampton by Hilton Bristol Airport was clean and comfortable, with a great location for an easy airport stopover. Highly recommended, and I’ll return next time I’m travelling through Bristol Airport.

Breakfast had a good range of choices to suit different tastes and dietary needs. We stayed the night before a flight, and the staff were pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, tidy and spacious, with a nice-sized shower. It’s close to the airport, about a 7-10 minute walk, and that should get shorter once the improvement work is finished.

The only real plus for me is how close it is to the airport, just a 2 minute walk, though you pay a premium for a very basic hotel. It felt unlike any other Hilton I’ve stayed at, and I’d say Premier Inn is nicer. We booked a queen family room for the extra space and needed a cot for our baby, but it was tiny, so I dread to think how small the standard rooms are. It was cramped and very warm, and the beds and pillows were uncomfortable. None of us slept well, and I woke with a bad neck and back, which is unusual for me. It was clean and close to the airport, but that’s about all it has going for it.
