The Dark Horse Pub

Thanks to Maisie and the team. This is a friendly pub with a great function room for a small party or gig, with space for up to 60 people. There’s also a beautifully decorated side alcove for smaller gatherings. Highly recommended!

I’m here most weekends and find it comfortable and reasonably priced. Good to see pubs like this still going in today’s climate!

We were shocked by the room and left 15 minutes after checking in. The owners refunded the second night only, and they were kind enough to do that. The pictures may be years old, because the room looked completely different and rundown. They warn guests about pub noise, which is understandable, but say nothing about the smell, dirt or damp. The bedframe was dirty, there was damp on the walls and mould in the shower. One wall had a dirty-looking fluid stain that you couldn’t avoid brushing against when getting into bed. They told us it was from an historic leak, but it looked like something else to me. If they don’t intend to fix it because they think it’s only an appearance issue, they should mention and show it in the advert. I found the marketing misleading.

The Long Room worked really well for my birthday party. We had our own space, could decorate it and bring in DJs, and it was easy to organise. The staff were lovely.
