Lodge 68 at Riviera Bay Coastal Retreat

I never expected to write a negative review about Riviera Bay, but the way staff have treated me means I can't return, so I had to cancel our next booked holiday. This is painful after at least 11 holidays here in the past nine years alone. I first came when it was Pontin's in 1991, returned regularly from the early 2000s when it was St Mary's Bay, and have also stayed since Park Holidays took ownership in 2007. My family connection goes back to the 1980s next door at Pontin's Dolphin, and to a 1991 holiday with my father, who has since passed away. The owners are now described as new, but I've never seen them. I feel staff discriminated against me, made no effort to put things right, and the owners or senior management have been absent while the situation escalated. It seems they don't care, or they would have stepped in. We loved our lodge and its superb views; it was our peaceful haven, and we'll miss it terribly. I hope things improve at Riviera Bay. We didn't see the bay at all, despite the location being right beside The Bay. On our previous three visits, before Riviera Bay Coastal Retreat took over, my family and I had great views and a great experience, so I expected this stay to be even better. Instead, our lodge was at the very back, boxed in by bushes with no view, and the lodges don't overlook the sea. There isn't any on-site entertainment, just a pleasant, fairly quiet place to have a drink. We had no contact with staff: a code was sent for the little safe box outside the door, along with check-in and check-out times, and that was it. For the price of the holiday, it really wasn't worth it.

We liked our stay and everything was good. The only thing missing was an egg cup.

We had a beautiful sea view from our lodge. It was very clean, well maintained and pet friendly.
