The Lodge at Broadway

Broadway is perfectly placed for exploring, and it was convenient for visiting the surrounding area too. Parking is limited, though guests can use the nearby car park at The Lygon Arms hotel. My room was clean and comfortable, with a gorgeous bed that gave me a lovely night's sleep. I'd recommend it for a convenient, comfortable stay that doesn't cost too much.

The Lodge worked really well for our one night in the centre of Broadway, especially as a stop on our Cotswold Way walk. Our room, fish, was clean, well maintained, and had good facilities. There's no staffed reception, which may not suit everyone, so I've given service three stars. It was fine for us: Jo, the manager and owner, was easy to reach by phone and sent clear, friendly instructions for checking in and dropping off or collecting our bags. Breakfast is offered at the restaurant next door at a discounted rate for Lodge guests, though we didn't try it. Thanks, Jo, for a pleasant stay.

The Lodge was just right for our trip with another couple who were visiting from Australia. It's in the middle of Broadway, only a few metres from lovely shops, restaurants, and pubs. The rooms were clean and beautiful, with very comfortable beds, great facilities, and easy access. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and we'd happily recommend it. We'll book again next time we're in the area.

The tea and cookies were good, and the bathroom was very well equipped, with plenty of hot water at good pressure and nice towels. Unfortunately, the bed was awful. The mattress had partly collapsed, with rounded edges from people sitting on it, and there was no box spring. It should have been replaced long ago. The flashing smoke alarm lights, every ten seconds, were another nuisance, and we both needed sleep masks. Our room at the Lodge, the Horse and Hound, seemed okay at first, especially for the price, but the worn carpet and scratched furniture showed how much use it gets. Nothing made up for that mattress.
