A proper traditional pub with really good service. We had the pie, chips and veg: tasty, and there was plenty of it. The food is straightforward pub fare, but very well done. Good beer too, no fuss, just satisfying.

The Dartmoor Beef burger was really tasty, and the beer and food were quite good. But the service felt unwelcoming. The man behind the bar was curt and a little rude. I wasn’t impressed by the menu choices, so I asked about specials. “Over there, curry night,” he said. When I asked whether they had steak, the answer was a blunt “no.” The pub felt pretty dead, which is a shame given the nice location. The outside area is drab and could use some care.

A welcoming pub that still feels like a proper local hub, even for people just passing through. The staff were friendly, the simple food was very tasty and fairly priced, and the pudding choices were delicious. Great selection of local beer and soft drinks too.
