Buzzard Holt Hosting

What was meant to be a goodbye holiday for my dog turned into a horror movie. My husband, the dogs and I couldn’t get away fast enough. The accommodation was disgusting and nothing like the photos. We packed up and left before any of us caught germs. Thankfully, Airbnb were very helpful and offered a full refund. I hope the owners learn from this and stop deleting negative reviews. Let’s hope Airbnb deals with them appropriately.

The tent was clean, the mattress was super comfortable, and the extra blankets helped me get the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while. There are toilets, showers, a jacuzzi, other attractions and a shop selling delicious local produce on site. A small village pub is within walking distance, and town isn’t far if you’ve forgotten something. It was my first visit to Buzzard Holt Hosting. What a lovely setting, place and hosts. Communication was excellent throughout. It’s a stunning family run business, and I’d highly recommend it.

The shared bathroom was muddy and full of dead leaves, rain dripped into the hut, and the log burner wouldn’t work. We ended up cold, muddy and miserable. The place may be better in warmer weather, but that doesn’t excuse the owner’s lack of communication and professionalism. We’re still waiting for an answer. In these conditions, I feel the site should be closed because customer safety clearly doesn’t seem to matter. My boyfriend and I booked hoping to enjoy the spa and some time together. It was the opposite of the nice experience we expected.

We had a great weekend and thought it was good value. The owner was friendly and lovely to chat with. For local outings, Stowe Gardens National Trust is worth a look, and there are plenty of places nearby to get good food. We spent two nights in the Mongolian yurt. It was spacious, warm and really fun, with tea, coffee, bottled water, a toaster, a small oven/microwave and a fridge. Outside, there’s a washing-up sink and a small shared toilet and shower unit, which was clean and tidy. You can book time on the hot tub, sauna and cold water plunge using the chalk board.
