Even if you’re not staying nearby, this pub is worth stopping in for a drink. We were staying across the road from the Bullers arms and ended up loving the atmosphere, the whole feel of the place, and the dog wandering around. On certain nights there are food trucks too, and the food was amazing. It’s the sort of corner pub I wish I had near home.
The pub quiz was a highlight, even though we came away with the wooden spoon! Everyone made us feel welcome, and the staff were lovely. One of them even took time to chat with my daughter about the stuffed animals on the wall. We were in the area last week and stopped by a few times. The food trucks were a nice extra, and you’re allowed to bring your own dinner in. Thanks, we hope to visit again.
The beer was nicely kept. My Proper Job was just right, even if it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. We found the Bullers while on a quick week away before Easter, and it became our local for the week. It clearly means different things to different people, but even as visitors we felt welcome. Purdey, the pub dog, seemed to know everyone. One local checked whether we were okay with his dog being let off the lead after Purdey had gone to bed. There was a log fire on our first evening, which made the sofas really cosy. When we came back tonight the welcome was still warm, though it felt cooler without the wood burner lit. Food was from a takeaway van this week. I’d have happily tried the jerk chicken, it smelled great, but I’d already eaten at the bistro at Tintagel Brewery an hour earlier. I’m guessing they don’t serve food out of season, though the sign outside advertised Sunday lunch. A nice place to drop into if you’re passing through.
We’ve only visited twice, and both times they made us feel welcome. Friendly pub, good beer and great service.
