The Globe Hotel

We popped in for a drink and to check if the England match was showing. They put it on the big screen for us, which was lovely. It’s a very traditional pub, but the staff are fabulously welcoming. We could bring our dog and relax, and the friendly team gave him lots of treats and attention. We’d already eaten, though other diners seemed happy with their meals. Would recommend for families!

The pub was busy when we stopped in one evening during our holiday, but we found a table. While we were ordering at the bar, staff kindly offered us another table that had just been cleared. Friendly service, a good range of traditional pub food and reasonable prices. The mixed grill was a generous plateful and really good. We’d gladly return, and in fact had visited a few years ago too.

We were glad we happened to wander in. We’d been looking for a dog-friendly pub with classic pub food and found exactly that. The food was amazing and so well priced it almost seemed too good to be true. Our two dogs were welcomed straight away with water, a big handful of treats and plenty of attention. The staff were really lovely and friendly.

We ended up returning here more than any other pub in town on our recent trips. It’s friendly and down to earth, with reasonable prices and tasty meals that felt like good value. The Thai food was a surprisingly good addition to the menu, and a welcome one.
