The Gold Room’s own balcony and seating were lovely, and the views from the property are hard to beat: sea, greens, golf course, cricket square and the slight hill leading back into Bude town. Just be aware that there are stairs to climb. I’ve only marked it down slightly for that. The Green Room is on the ground floor and may suit some people better. Chris welcomed us warmly as soon as we arrived and soon brought us a lovely cream tea. The meals were lovely too. I couldn’t manage all the dinner courses, and asked for a smaller “Cornish” breakfast than the one on offer. We’ve been here before, so we already knew what a lovely little town Bude is, with its distinctive small shops. There’s plenty to do nearby: good shopping in Bideford, a lovely garden centre for rainy days and nice beaches when it’s sunny. A tip for finding Pot & Barrels’ own car park: the first time, it’s a little tricky. As you approach, you’ll see a sign saying 'Penarvor Apartments Private Parking'. Ignore it and drive through. You’ll be where you need to be. Enjoy.

We got lucky with the weather in early January. It was cold, but the skies were blue and the sun was out. After walks on the beach and coastal path, we could relax in Chris's sun lounge, reading and taking in the lovely views. We spent six wonderful days here, and it was just what we wanted. Chris is a superb, welcoming host and always around with useful information. Breakfast was excellent, and the evening meals were really good too. It was so nice not having to head out looking for somewhere to eat each night. Thanks so much, Chris. We hope to visit again. Tim & Rose Gomersall

The coast path and Bude town are both close by, and it’s the kind of place you’d go back to. Very comfortable, with a big breakfast and a choice of evening meals. In the morning you can watch geese flying over, and bats appear in the early evening.

The rooms are luxurious, lovely and very clean, and the comfortable beds made for good nights’ sleep after busy days. The food is excellent, with a good range on the menu. It’s a lovely B&B in a lovely spot. The owner is a nice host who always makes you feel welcome. I’d recommend it as a great base for exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside.

The balcony has great views, and the bedroom’s bed is comfy. Chris is a perfect host, and the location is perfect too. The cream tea on arrival is a lovely touch that sets the tone for the stay. Breakfast is amazing. Whoever said it’s the best meal of the day must have stayed here!
