Breakfast was a real highlight. We filled in an order form the night before by ticking a few boxes, which let them plan ahead. We tried both the veggie and farmers breakfasts, and both were great. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the hosts and staff made us feel welcome, always happy to stop for a chat. Our only small gripe was the tiny TV, though we weren’t there to watch it, so it was just a slight inconvenience. The village was the main reason for our trip and only a five-minute walk away, which was a big bonus. We’ll definitely return.

The shower was my one complaint from our early October stay. At 6'6", I could barely turn around without hitting the walls, and the showerhead came up to my chin. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and well cared for, and check-in was quick and easy. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was included and excellent, especially the perfect Full English and amazing porridge. I got so into their tea that I bought a few boxes from the shop to take home. I’d stay again without hesitation.

Our son was thrilled to see the geese, chickens and guinea fowl in the yard, plus pigs across the road. We were there as a family for a wedding at the nearby Burley Manor, and the cosy rooms suited our needs well. The Pantry team next door were lovely, especially with our toddler, and the food was great, particularly the full English breakfast. Everything went well from arrival to departure. The shower did sound like a power tool starting up, but apart from that, we had a lovely stay.

The current owners were very hospitable, and breakfast was generous and tasty. We had a pleasant two-night stay in rooms that were warm and comfortable, with good wi-fi. The place could do with a makeover.

The rooms and annexe suited our needs completely. It’s right in the heart of the New Forest, with good pubs within walking distance and plenty more a short drive away. We’ll come back next year.
