The service was still warm and polite, which made the disappointing meal stand out even more. It’s sad to see a place that used to be so busy and lively nearly empty on a Sunday. I actually had to check that it was open. I’ve been coming for years for what was always a genuinely lovely carvery, but this visit didn’t come close to that standard. The business has recently changed hands, and unfortunately the difference shows. The beef was rubbery instead of tender, the vegetables had been boiled until they lost their texture, and the flavours were bland. Nothing was inedible, but the food felt like a boxed ready meal, without the flavour or care it used to have.

We had a superb meal, with lots of choice on the menu, and really enjoyed sharing a selection of the tasty small plates. The staff were welcoming throughout our stay. Our ensuite room was cosy and the bed comfortable, in a very nice village. We had a great time, highly recommend it, and will definitely come back.

Really enjoyed the Sunday lunch, and the service was great value for money. Well done, Ian and team.

Nice pub, and the landlord was very helpful. I’d checked the opening hours online, but they were wrong. He still let me in for a drink and to use the facilities I needed to sort out a problem.

We tried the new menu and came away really pleased. The food was amazing, staff couldn’t do enough for us, and the restaurant looked beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. The new management have done a great job. Excellent value too, we’ll definitely be back.
