Heritage Grange At Thurston

I was on a business trip, so I booked the least expensive room, and I don’t think my experience represents the nicer rooms. The staff were lovely and did their best to look after me. Breakfast was excellent, and there’s a good dinner menu of tasty, freshly cooked dishes that are nicely presented. The bar is well stocked and closes at 9:30 pm. The building has lots of character and patina, there’s plenty of parking, and the garden is lovely. It’s a quiet location. Did I mention how lovely the staff are?

Thank you so much for a fantastic Christmas party last night, 12/12/25. The food was gorgeous and came on hot plates. The staff were attentive and polite, and the entertainment was a bonus 😜. Hope we can come back next year. Xx

A lovely Evening Tea with friends was given to us as a gift, and everyone enjoyed it. As the only vegetarian, I was pleased that it didn’t disappoint. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was great. I’m looking forward to visiting again and would definitely recommend 😊

The bed was super comfortable, breakfast is offered, and the grounds look lovely. Staff were friendly, and it’s easy to get a taxi to Bury St Edmunds and elsewhere. We only stayed one night in August 2025, and I think we got a very basic room that could use some TLC to bring it up to date. The building is pretty and the location decent, but room 5 was very dated. I’m pretty sure the hairdryer was from the 70s, which was a shame when so many photos show more recently modernised rooms. Having a TV, microwave and tea and coffee facilities was a nice touch. Some things needed attention: a bedside lamp didn’t work even though its socket did, the bathtub had a large crack, the windows were cracked too, and there was mould around the shower glass. There were also several spiderwebs that looked like they’d been missed while cleaning. A large gap under the door let hallway light into the room, and the keyhole cover was missing. A draft excluder and replacement cover would help, especially since some rooms seem to have keyhole covers. I’d also have liked two pillows each, as the single pillow per person made the bed look less inviting.
