We were glad we'd booked because the pub was busy even on a drizzly Monday night. The landlord was really friendly, the atmosphere cosy, and the food was great. There were several vegetarian choices, and the ones we tried were delicious.

The food was lovely and nicely presented, and after a wet walk it was wonderful to come into a warm, cosy pub with the log fires going. Special mention to our server, "Harry". He's only 14 and was such a polite young man.

The bar had a great feel to it, with a couple of fires lit, and the staff were friendly. We stopped for the Sunday roast on 23/11/25 and had pork and beef, both excellent. The vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese were fantastic too. A couple of glasses of wine were reasonably priced. Can't wait to visit again.

The pub looked lovely decorated for Christmas, which made our short stay in the village even nicer. My friend and I were visiting between Christmas and New Year, and after a welcoming drink following our walk, we returned that evening for bar snacks instead of the restaurant menu. The pork belly bites, taters, chicken bites and prawns were all beautifully cooked. Staff were friendly and chatty both times, and we happily spent a few hours talking beside the log fire, which was tended regularly. We weren't staying at the Devonshire.

We booked online for a Saturday dinner and drinks. The food was amazing, and the staff were lovely and friendly. There was a good range of alcohol-free beers and cocktail offers too. I'd definitely recommend this lovely village pub.
