Llanberis Lodges

We could walk to the bars and restaurants easily, and the bus for Pen Y Pass stops right across the road, handy for climbing Snowdon via the Pyg and Miners route. There was off-road parking for two cars. The accommodation worked well for five people. It was very clean and well maintained, with all the fixtures and fittings anyone would need.

The patio is large and looks out over the mountains, the bathrooms are spacious and clean, and breakfast was good, though English breakfast isn't really my thing. We booked late after seeing the good reviews and hoped for a good stay. At £105 a night, I expected better, but the price itself wasn't what put me off. There was no microwave or even a small fridge in the room. It was rainy and chilly during our stay in July 2017, and when we asked to put the heater on, we were rudely reminded of the month. Our towels weren't changed the next day, and it was still cash only. I'd heard only good things about Bob, the owner, but I found him grumpy and rude several times. Pointing out a mistake is fair, but being rude to a child isn't. He should feel ashamed. I believe this needs to be said.

The breakfast hamper was delivered to our room with enough food for some of lunch as well, and it was socially distanced. The room was lovely and clean, with tea and coffee making facilities. The large bathroom was very clean too, with a walk-in shower. It's close to a beautiful lake, the mountain railway, and Mount Snowdon.

Llanberis Lodges is right on the high street, close to the shops, restaurants and Snowdon mountain railway station. We ate at two places, Petes Eats and The Peak Restaurant, and would recommend both. Parking was ample for one car per lodge. Some spaces need a bit of reversing, depending which one you come back to, but it wasn't a problem. We stayed four nights. Bob and Annie were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean with everything as advertised, including tea and coffee facilities. Because of the covid restrictions, we couldn't use the dining room. Breakfast hampers were delivered each morning for us to eat in our rooms or on the balcony or terrace. There was a good range of good-quality food and snacks. The bacon, egg and sausage barm was 10/10, and veggie options were available. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
