We had a wonderful one-night stay and will definitely return. The bedroom overlooked the garden, was lovely and quiet, and we slept really well. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was very good. Dinner at Mark Poynton's restaurant was truly incredible. The hotel also made a handy base for Norwich. We were parked in the city centre within ten minutes of setting off, and the recently reopened castle is well worth a visit. We could also walk through the garden to the temporary archaeological dig, then take a ten-minute walk to the site of the former Roman town. Many thanks to everyone.

The staff made our meal feel personal and were incredibly hospitable. The food and location were wonderful too, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Couldn't recommend it more.

We were there for just one night, arriving shortly after 6 PM, going out for a few hours, then sleeping and leaving after breakfast just before 9:15 AM. Maybe that wasn’t long enough to get a full feel for the place, which seemed to have real potential, but a few things let the stay down. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable and clean. In the bathroom, though, there were cobwebs and dead insects on and under the radiators. There was also only about 30 ml of shower gel, barely enough for two adults and a toddler to wash their hands, never mind shower properly that evening or in the morning. My wife bit into something she described as a stone while having her vegan breakfast. She told the server, who kindly apologized. The Egg Benedict was too salty, I'm afraid. I don't know whether the Michelin Chef chose the breakfast menu, but the servings could definitely be improved. They could leave out the squash and offer more variety than the oven vegan, which tends to dry out quickly. I’ve only included photos as evidence to help the hotel improve its standards.

We booked several rooms and a special dinner for a family Golden Wedding celebration, and the staff were amazing before and throughout our stay. Danielle at Caistor Hall worked so hard to get the bedrooms ready, including arranging oxygen supplies to be delivered in advance for one room. We were allocated The Rose room for the meal, and it was beautiful. Danielle and Luke looked after the whole family with so much care during dinner and the stay. Breakfast the next morning in the main dining room was lovely, and Michelle was lovely too. The building is quirky and full of character.

The decor was nice, and I liked the music where we were sitting, but the experience needs fine tuning. It was Saturday afternoon tea and the hotel felt completely deserted. We were the only ones in the restaurant, so there was no atmosphere, and it wasn’t very warm either. The tasting restaurant had only 4 people in, with far more staff than customers. The food was tasty, but there wasn’t much of it. The sandwiches, sausage roll and cheese straw were nice, though the sausage roll wasn’t whole. We each got just one very small scone, and the cakes were tiny. By the time we got home, we were hungry again. We ordered Earl Grey tea and had to chase up the milk after it didn’t arrive. At £25, I didn’t feel it was good value. I’ve had other afternoon teas for less with more food. Maybe they’re trying to be too fancy. Savoury and fruit scones might help, along with a little more food for the £25 charge. We won’t be rushing back.
