The room was small but fine for a short visit and looked like the pictures. Still, we left with a poor impression and wouldn’t want to stay again, despite the convenient location. The main issue was how unclean things were when we arrived: dust covered nearly every surface, including very thick dust on the fan, outlets, TV stand and, especially troubling for my allergies, the fabric headboard. It clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. There were cobwebs on the windows, towel rack and bathroom vent, and the curtains were stained and pilling. The coffee machine was dirty, and even after we cleaned it, it didn’t work, so we had no coffee. We asked for an extra duvet and were told that wasn’t possible. I’ve never had that happen at another hotel or B&B, and it left a bad impression. We could only contact the hosts through the booking site or email. Their number wasn’t on WhatsApp, and we were visiting from abroad without a working UK phone. We didn’t see any staff during our two-night stay, and the room wasn’t cleaned while we were there.

The kitchen had everything we needed, and our room felt warm and cosy. It was all clean and fresh, and wonderfully quiet despite being so central. There’s an inexpensive car park just down the road, which is unusual for Canterbury. I loved staying here and would happily recommend it to anyone after a reasonably priced place for a few nights. Delighted.

The downstairs kitchen came in handy for making quick meals whenever we needed, especially with a child along. There was also storage downstairs for our bags when we arrived before check-in, a thoughtful help. Laura was easy to reach by phone and regularly checked whether we needed anything. The accommodation had the comfort of a hotel with useful extras, and the location was ideal: a two-minute walk to the city centre, major supermarkets and restaurants, and three minutes to lovely parks with playgrounds. I’d definitely book here again if I return to Canterbury.

Laura and Julie went out of their way to help us park our car and trailer, which earned an extra star from me. Parking is tricky, as it is in any busy centre. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the downstairs kitchen had everything you could need and more. I loved the bathrobe, and the children were delighted to bake pizza in the oven. It’s a great base for exploring lovely Canterbury. I wanted to stay longer. We paid 134 euro for one night, for two adults and two children.

They’d even left us a bottle of Prosecco and a rose. We were in room 3 over Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend, and it was so spotless we wondered if we were the first guests to use it. For £55, it was incredibly good value, especially with a fridge, kettle, tea bags and milk, a good coffee machine and a well-stocked bathroom. I’ll stay here again on future trips to Canterbury.
