We’ll definitely try to come back if there’s a room free. The only tiny gripe is that you can hear the train, if you’re being very picky. The room itself was spotless and spacious, with a balcony, ensuite and everything we needed. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I took a photo of the pillows so I can buy the same kind! Getting in was easy too, with a clear email explaining room 74, parking and key collection. Brilliant from start to finish, 10/10.

The apartment was about a 10-minute drive from where we picked up the keys, and our free parking space was already waiting, which was a real bonus in the centre. We had the three-bedroom place for five of us, with plenty of room and lovely views of the city. It was unexpected to collect the keys elsewhere, but we arrived very late and were glad we could check in at all. The owners were really friendly, gave us a map and talked us through things to see and do. Thanks to them.

The apartment was in great shape and had all the conveniences we needed. Check-in ran late and it was still being cleaned when I arrived, but they gave a very genuine reason and were doing their best. The big drawback is the noise: it backs onto a busy railway and a road junction. The parking fob also only worked some of the time. Bring earplugs for the traffic and it could be a fab place.

The people at key collection were lovely and knew the city well, with helpful suggestions on where to go. The apartment is in a great spot, close to everything, and there are some really good restaurants nearby. Tip: booking on their website directly is cheaper.

The flat has everything you need and is nice, though the noise is a bit much with the train station and Cardiff’s main road right below.
