The hotel still hasn’t replied about any of these problems, even after I emailed and called. This update was on 31/07/25. Avoid, avoid, avoid. We stayed on Thursday 10th July. At check-in, nobody mentioned that the air conditioning in our room was broken. We were given room 1104, and when we got there the door was open. Inside, there was only a little portable AC unit and a fan. With temperatures above 30 degrees, that wasn’t good enough, especially since I had paid extra to bring my dog. Before that, I’d been charged £25 for the dog. The listing said charges “may be applicable,” but I couldn’t find anything saying there definitely was a charge. “May” and “is” aren’t the same, and I wasn’t happy about the extra cost. We asked to move, which was allowed, and were given room 501, an accessible room. But after I showered, water had sprayed across the bathroom and run over the sides of the shower tray, leaving the whole floor wet. We used two towels and the bathmat to mop it up, but they didn’t do a great job and we had no hand towels left. The floor was slippery, and our feet got wet each time we went in. That felt unsafe, especially in a room described as accessible. For what we paid, I expected better than broken air conditioning and a shower that flooded the bathroom. I left Friday morning feeling pretty duped. There was nobody at reception when we left, so I couldn’t raise it in person. I also contacted the hotel through booking.com and by email, but got no response at all. Poor rooms and poor customer service.

The room was the highlight: roomy, spotless, with lovely panoramic views, and the bed, pillows and bedding were so comfortable that my partner and I slept better than we had in ages. A few things felt out of place for a hotel presented as “luxury.” The front-of-house staff seemed unwelcoming, and even a smile would have made a difference. There were no complimentary biscuits in the room, and the stairwells looked pretty unsightly. We ended up using the stairs because the lifts weren’t working. There was also a £10 charge for the pool and hot tub. We hadn’t planned to use them, but the extra fee seemed a bit odd for a luxury hotel. Those were the only small downsides. We liked the hotel and had no problem with the location, though it may not suit everyone. You can’t move a hotel, after all, and it worked just fine for us.
A few days after our stay, I got a £100 parking ticket saying I hadn’t paid. I’m still trying to provide proof that I did. We left the car park after exactly 20 hours and 9 minutes, according to the ticket I received. We stayed one night on 28.07.2025. Parking was the only problem. We found a space, went upstairs to check in and pay, and I asked staff if I could pay for parking there. They said yes. I checked again, and they told me the ticket would cover 24 hours and to let them know if I wanted to extend it. I paid £21 for 24 hours, along with the hotel bill. When the parking ticket first arrived, I tried calling the hotel but couldn’t find a working number. The one listed had a +31 code for the Netherlands. I later found a UK number and have been trying to get through, but nobody answers. This is probably the first time I’ve felt I had to leave a review, because I can’t find another way to reach them.
The location was awful, with broken beer bottles and homeless people around. We ended up buying dinner for some people we met while out walking. Parking costs £21 a night, there aren’t enough spaces for guests, and if you move your car you lose your spot. The room was very hot, the AC barely worked, the TV was old and not smart, and the carpet was very dirty. You also pay £10 per person to use the pool, even as a hotel guest. I’ve never had to pay that at another hotel. This shouldn’t be called a luxury hotel. I wouldn’t stay here again if I came back to Cardiff.
I’m writing this at 1 a.m. on the day I stayed because the room is so hot and oppressive that I can’t sleep. There’s no air conditioning and no bottled water, which is shocking. The room itself was clean, but £213 for the room, another £15 to park a motorbike overnight, and £12 extra for breakfast feels horrendous. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
