voco St David's Cardiff by IHG

Four of us booked a two-hour spa session for a birthday afternoon and had a lovely, relaxing time. The price seemed reasonable compared with other spas nearby. There's a spacious pool, wall walk, jacuzzi area and sauna, with plenty of room for several guests. The changing rooms were excellent, with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the showers, and hairdryers and straighteners for afterwards. Some areas could have been cleaner. The glass between the wall walk and main pool was grubby, as were the metal water-spraying features and the jacuzzi walls. The sauna and general upkeep elsewhere were good. Mali and Caitlin were very helpful before we booked, answering my questions and helping me arrange it when I couldn't pay online. I don't have photos to share because phones aren't allowed in the spa area.

The staff were a real highlight during our weekend for my husband's birthday. They were friendly, attentive, professional and fun, without making anything feel forced. Our room, 713, had a beautiful view, and small surprises like complimentary binoculars, a bird book and a Nintendo Switch made the stay feel special. There were other little extras too. The food was mixed. Room service wasn't very nice, while breakfast and the Sunday roast were lovely. The spa was great, though it could feel overcrowded at times. The location is ideal for exploring Cardiff without travelling far. I'd happily come back, and if we visit Cardiff again, this is the only place I'd consider staying.

We've been staying here once or twice a year throughout its 30-year life, and it still feels like a treat. Our room was beautifully furnished and impeccably clean. The spa is showing its age a little, but remains a lovely place to spend a few hours. We enjoyed delicious restaurant food at a reasonable price for such lovely surroundings, and IHG membership comes with a few nice extras worth joining for. The service was great from reception, room service, housekeeping, the spa and the restaurant. Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful and sincere. A fantastic overnight stay at a lovely hotel and spa. Highly recommend!

My first stay at Voca St David's was excellent value, and I'd recommend the hotel without hesitation. Trizia checked me in and was welcoming, professional and helpful, a real ambassador for IHG. The room overlooking the bay was comfortable, and the bathroom worked well. Hotels often get the shower and bath settings wrong, but this one had them right. Dinner was lovely, and breakfast was top class, from the warm welcome to the buffet. My only criticism is that the machine coffee could have been hotter.
