My wife, her 96-year-old mother and I had a very pleasant meal in this quaint English country pub. We were offered a choice of seats, and the young woman who greeted us was very polite. Service was excellent, the menu was easy to read with a good choice of food, and everything tasted lovely and was nicely presented. The one problem was access to the disabled toilet. A table was blocking the entrance, so when my mother-in-law needed to go, we had to ask the people sitting there to move. The staff were lovely and helpful otherwise, and I look forward to going back.

The pub is a lovely building and the food is good. My family and friends have been several times over the past year, most recently last week, but the service from some of the bar staff has been a real problem. The younger staff don't even acknowledge you when you come in, and the older ones aren't setting a good example either. We've been shouted at as we walked through the door that they couldn't serve us because they were too busy, or because some staff were too young. Another time, someone said, "im making 6 coffees cant 'deal' with you at the moment." I hoped the renovations might bring in new staff, but the same rude ones are still there. Locals clearly get treated much better.

Stopped in for a light lunch at this lively little pub. The chips were brilliant, the coleslaw really creamy and the garlic prawns delicious. The soup of the day was good too.

I was sorting out hotels for a road trip with friends from down south. In January I rang because this place had no rooms showing on Booking.Com, and was told they hadn't decided on their 2026 prices yet, so I couldn't book. Later, the rooms appeared online and I reserved two doubles. A week before our stay, while I was already travelling around the North Coast of Scotland, they tried to charge my card. When I got mobile signal, I found a snotty message saying my booking had been cancelled because the card details weren't working. That's not what you want to hear four days before arriving. I messaged through Booking.Com and asked them to check which card they had, since five other hotels I'd booked there had charged me without any trouble. They sent another snotty message complaining that I hadn't tried to contact them. After that second message, I no longer wanted to stay there and booked somewhere else.

There's a nice vibe, plenty of parking and the service is very good. They sorted out a small issue with a plate straight away, and nothing seemed too much trouble. I'll definitely be back.
