Chapel Lodge

We chose this stay mainly for Cartmel races, an easy half-hour drive away, and Capernwray Quarry is just over a mile down the road, great if you scuba dive. Morecombe was also about half an hour away, with little beaches along the way, and Heysham has historic rock graves. There’s plenty around, but the place itself is quiet, and the host and her family were friendly and looked after us so well. We’ll be back. We stayed four nights, 15th-18th July 21, as covid restrictions were ending, during a heatwave. The room was lovely and clean, with an en-suite shower and toilet, big windows for air, and a fan if needed. The bed was comfortable, the towels were big and fluffy, and they were changed daily. Even though I made the bed, it was straightened up perfectly. Chilled water was left in the room every day too. Breakfast was continental because of covid, with freshly made fruit salad, different fresh breads, croissants, cereals and muesli, plus chilled orange juice. The juice and milk came in their own little bottles. There were lots of thoughtful touches throughout, and the garden had lovely features to look at and a couple of spots to sit.

We’ll be back. The room was cosy, spotlessly clean and warm, and the hosts made us feel welcome. Breakfast had every sort of continental option you could want, and the view was fantastic.

Just home after one night, and what a great find. Janice welcomed us to a lovely, really clean room with everything we could need and more. Breakfast was lovely, served in our own breakfast room. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay, Janice. I’d highly recommend it.

The pub down the street served amazing food, and this was easily the best stop on our trip. The accommodations were wonderfully cosy and comfortable. Highly recommend.
