Sun Inn

We spent four nights here, and everything was first class. The rooms were kept clean and tidy, breakfast was tasty and substantial, and the service was top notch. After a day out, it was lovely to come back for drinks and a main meal before bed. It was quiet because we were there out of season, but that didn't bother us at all. Neither of us had been this way before. I booked the room as a surprise for my wife, who'd been under some pressure with her new job. Thanks to everyone for making our stay so enjoyable.

The staff made a real difference, warm, attentive and welcoming without making a fuss. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, with lots of thoughtful touches. We loved the food and atmosphere, and the place strikes a nice balance between a relaxed pub and a boutique stay. We even thought about extending our visit. One of the best country pub stays we've had at The Sun Inn in Kirkby Lonsdale. We'd absolutely come back.

The bed was so comfortable, and the big bathtub was the icing on the cake for me. Breakfast was tasty as well. We were lucky to be upgraded to room number 12, with a fantastic view over the Church and the graveyard full of daffodils. Everyone we encountered, from the cleaning ladies to reception, was genuine, helpful, friendly and service minded. The rooms I saw were quaint, cosy and well equipped. We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Sun Inn and would love to come back someday.

For a stop on a long journey, this is a great place to stay overnight. It's a delightful little country pub with rooms, right in the middle of the town or village. The room was clean, spacious enough for two and had everything we needed. The food was varied, plentiful and faultless. Parking around town is a problem, but the hotel has an arrangement with the local council that gives guests free use of council public car parks. Star ratings don't mean much these days.
