Airds Farmhouse B&B

The room was very comfortable, with its own bathroom, and the hosts made us feel welcome from the start. Breakfast was excellent, with loads to choose from, and they were happy to help with anything. It’s a lovely spot with countryside views. I’d definitely stay again when I’m back in Dumfries and Galloway.

We arrived for our New Year booking of the tiny home from Air B&B and found out the place had been double booked. The owner’s messages had been poor, and when we finally spoke, she offered to find us a hotel, but dogs weren’t allowed there. Bringing our dog was the whole reason we’d chosen her property. We’d both contacted her the day before, me to ask about utilities and to make clear we were arriving the next day. The other guests said they’d also got in touch to confirm their stay, which made her claim that she hadn’t realised about the double booking hard to believe. With New Year so close, there was nowhere else in the area at a similar price with the same amenities. We were extremely disappointed, and wouldn’t book here again.

The cooked breakfast was superb, and the owner was friendly and easy to reach. The scenery around the place is lovely, and the bed and pillows were comfortable enough. The rooms feel a little dated and could use some care. Since it’s also a bit out of the way, the stay seemed slightly overpriced. The sauna and other facilities cost extra, which hadn’t been clear when we booked.

We were disappointed when our booking was cancelled less than two weeks before the trip because the place had been overbooked. Rebooking so late came with unexpected extra costs, even though we’d have owed the full amount if we had cancelled at that point ourselves. I know mistakes happen, but if you book here, it may be worth checking that the reservation has definitely gone through.
