The location is fantastic, with everything you might need just a short walk away. We’ve stayed with Kate several times, and every visit has been exceptional. The rooms are beautifully styled, the beds are really comfortable, and thoughtful details like tea and coffee facilities and high-quality toiletries show how much care Kate puts into things. There’s a generous breakfast selection with something for everyone. We recommend Douglas House without hesitation.

We stayed for three nights with our seven-month-old, and it was just right. Kate was a fantastic host, and the room was spotless and warm. Breakfast was lovely too. We had a few extra requests because of the baby, and Kate went out of her way to help with everything. We’ll definitely come back!

The host was so friendly and full of useful information, and breakfast was delicious, especially the poached eggs. The room was exceptionally spacious and clean, with street parking always available. It was peaceful, too, and the location made it easy to get to everything. A lovely short break at Douglas house. xxxx

Kate made us feel welcome and was helpful throughout our stay. We were very comfortable in the pristine room, and the bathroom was wonderful. We had a thoroughly enjoyable two nights at Douglas House. If you find yourself in this part of Scotland, I’d highly recommend it.

Kate always greeted me with a friendly face whenever I came or went, and I’d definitely book again. I needed a fairly long stay at short notice, and the owner managed to fit me in around her other bookings, moving me between different rooms. I stayed in three of the four, and every one was spotless, a good size, and kept at a comfortable temperature. There was plenty of storage, too, plus very comfy beds, high spec linen, toiletries and towels. Breakfast was very good, served in a nicely decorated dining lounge.
