Prospect House

The owner made us feel welcome from the moment he greeted us at the gate and showed us around. At breakfast, he kept the teapot topped up and chatted just enough to be considerate without imposing. The meal was cooked perfectly, in my opinion, and I was a chef for 16 years. We booked The Prospect House as a reasonably priced place to sleep while my partner and I went walking around the Derbyshire Dales for a weekend. I wasn’t expecting much from a B & B, but the stay became a real part of the weekend. The small cabin-like rooms behind the main house feel private and homely, much more so than a hotel room. They have electric fires, lovely furnishings, thoughtfully presented amenities and plenty of character without feeling cluttered. There’s also a lounge with a fridge and microwave, plus books and board games if you fancy them. I’ve never left a Google review before, but this place made me want to. If you’re visiting the Derbyshire Dales and want somewhere a little different, the price may surprise you given how distinctive the place is and how good the hospitality was. I’m sure you’ll be glad to give it a chance.
