Premier Inn Cheltenham Central

The air con kept switching itself on at random even after I pressed the power button, and I couldn't reach a mains switch to turn it off at the wall. My room, like many others, faced a railway line, and the trains were VERY loud. Earplugs didn't block them out. I'm a light sleeper and asked to move, but was told no because my first room would need cleaning even though I hadn't slept in it. The only other rooms available were Premier Plus rooms, or whatever they're called. They're refurbishing the hotel, and the room looked nice. Still, thicker glazing for the rooms facing the Railtrack might have been a better use of the money. If you stay, ask at check-in for a room away from the railway if you can. They might already be taken, but it's worth a try.

Joel was very polite and clearly takes pride in his work. Breakfast was worth paying for, with lots to choose from, and every morning we were asked how we'd like our eggs. They were cooked fresh, not left sitting around and rubbery. We stayed over a long weekend, and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed. I'd recommend this over nipping across to McDonalds.

The room was quiet and the bed really comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and they brought them up. Breakfast was hot and well cooked, with eggs made to order. The newly refurbished rooms had new appliances and fittings, and the Premier Plus room came with a great coffee machine and capsules. The small team worked hard and were kind all weekend, always smiling. Thanks, Joel and Cynthia.

Free parking, a large room, and pleasant staff made this a good base for our two nights visiting The Cotswolds. It was quiet too. We had breakfast both mornings, and Joel, the breakfast chef, deserves credit for his pleasant manner and can-do attitude.
